JOB SCOPE
The Facilities Maintenance Technician (FMT) performs maintenance and repairs on facilities in compliance with all State and Federal Safety, Health, and Environmental Laws. He or she performs repairs with approval and oversight and accurately enters records of inspection, testing and repair activities in a recordkeeping system. The FMT also performs operational and administrative tasks in support of Facilities and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs scheduled and unscheduled facilities repairs and maintenance with approval and oversight as needed.Coordinates timely facilities repairs with outside vendors, including contacting contract service providers and ordering parts as needed.Keeps accurate records of unscheduled maintenance and repairs and maintains required documentation as needed.Operates a variety of forklifts, power tools, hand tools, measuring tools and other maintenance equipment.Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses equipment and materials properly.Follows lock out/tag out procedures.Responds to on-call repair requests outside of regular working hours.Collaborates with various internal and external customer demonstrating strong communication and organizational skills.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required.1-2 years general facility maintenance preferred.1-2 years EPA/DEQ experience preferred.Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, especially EPA/DEQ.General knowledge of building maintenance such as: painting, sheetrock, fundamentals of HVAC operation.Prior experience using hand tools and power tools.Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair capabilities.Good organizational skills.Good verbal and written communication skills.Able to work independently with minimal supervision.Demonstrated problem solving skills.Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Microsoft Access a plus.Ability to follow all Safety Policies and Procedures.Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.Ability to successfully attain a forklift certification.Current, valid driver's license and auto insurance and access to a personal vehicle to perform the duties of the job.Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
