Position: Facilities Maintenance Specialist

Location: Middleton, Wisconsin

This is a fully onsite role based at our GMP Lab in Middleton, Wisconsin. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Discover Impactful Work:

As a Facilities Maintenance Specialist, you will support the Facilities function for the Middleton Site to provide repair, maintenance, and oversight in a fast-paced technical GMP lab environment. You will work closely with the internal project management team and consultants to provide maintenance insights into facility renovations.

A Day in the Life:

Handle all areas of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialty service calls and in-house repairs throughout the facility and grounds.

Complete all facility work in a manner which maintains compliance with site Quality Management Systems.

Respond to emergency, afterhours, and trouble calls in an on-call rotation and oversee the repair of the systems through completion.

Manage the vendor-led scheduled and unscheduled work requests and special projects.

Perform facility corrective and preventive maintenance and repairs as assigned.

Perform monitoring, daily rounds, inspection, maintenance, and repair of facility equipment and architectural features.

Maintain detailed knowledge of facility systems and equipment, and trains new employees.

Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical failures.

Maintain a professional, safe and clean work area, including mechanical spaces, electrical rooms, and central utility plant.

Identify and correct possible safety violations.

Comply with OSHA, EHS, and other standard operating procedures, policies and regulations, maintaining personal training plan compliance

Partner with Purchasing to issue purchase requests and review and approve invoices for vendor.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and contractors to complete work orders to trade standards and customer expectations.

Provide daily operational support and perform other duties as needed.

Keys to Success:

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years).

OR

Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 7+ years).

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Education or training in HVAC, refrigeration, and controls are strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience in maintenance and construction trades.

Strong understanding of architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building management automation systems, quality management systems, and engineering concepts.

Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with the capability to plan for contingencies and overcome obstacles to ensure results.

Demonstrates the ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and effectively navigate periods of uncertainty and change.

Basic computer skills and ability to operate hand and power tools like drills, saws, grinders, and sanders.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, motivated, reliable, and eager to learn new strategies and technologies.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

Excellent cross-functional communication skills, able to convey complex equipment system concepts effectively across multiple levels of the organization and outside vendors.
