Job Title: Fabricator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fabricator to join our team, responsible for performing complex welding assignments and ensuring compliance with all relevant OSHA, company, and customer safety policies. This role requires setting up and operating welding equipment, performing shop mathematics for layouts, and using various tools to complete tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

Perform complex welding assignments independently.Set up and operate welding equipment for all types of assignments.Apply shop mathematics to do layouts and plan work.Set up and operate oxyacetylene torch and plasma cutter for tasks.Layout large, critical, and complex fitting and welding assignments.Perform quality checks during fabrication by visual inspections, using gauging, measuring, and comparing to print specifications.Operate a variety of powered, hand-held drills, grinders, saws, and appropriate non-powered hand tools.Drive and operate trucks, forklifts, and boom lifts after receiving training and authorization.Engage in active discussions with co-workers and supervisors for understanding and problem-solving.Cross-train with different aspects of the business/shop to learn about the products.

Essential Skills

2+ years of fabrication experience or a 2-year technical degree in welding.Experience in steel fabrication, shear/brake press, iron work, MIG welding, and blueprint reading.

Work Environment

The work environment is set up on a residential land, with office employees in a house and three separate buildings for fabrication, painting, and receiving. The team is small, with under 50 people, fostering a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere. The shift runs from 7 AM to 4 PM with an hour lunch, adjusting to 6 AM with a half-hour lunch during hot weeks. Employees work in teams of two, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and flexibility. The work is custom and varied, requiring employees to adapt to different tasks throughout the day.

This is a Contract position based out of Ames, Iowa.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
