Fabrication Technician
Hiring for a Fabrication Technician in Meriden!

Job Description

As a Fabrication Technician, you will execute work orders to process and fabricate germanium and silicon-based crystals into functional radiation detection diodes. This role involves handling acids and other chemicals, as well as using and performing routine maintenance of evaporators, sputtering machines, and other systems.

Responsibilities

Conduct final surface preparation of germanium crystals.Perform final surface preparation of silicon elements.Operate ion implanter and vacuum deposition equipment.Conduct routine equipment maintenance.Test finished crystals to ensure quality and functionality.Troubleshoot process problems as they arise.Train junior technicians in processing techniques when necessary.

Essential Skills

Manual dexterity.Mechanical aptitude.Proficiency in machine operation.Adherence to safety procedures.Experience with etching techniques.Knowledge of hazardous waste handling.Ability to operate a drill press.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing facility with shop floors. The environment will require familiarity with handling machinery and chemicals, and adherence to safety protocols. The position offers the opportunity to progress to a Level II Technician within 1-2 years based on performance, with potential to transition into a lead troubleshooting role.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Meriden, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
