The Opportunity

This position works out of our Plymouth, MN location in the Electrophysiology division. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Extrusion Technician I, you will be responsible for providing manufacturing and engineering support to the extrusion operations.

This is a 2nd Shift position - working a 10-hour shift, Monday - Thursday, from 3pm - 1:30am.

What You’ll Work On

Elevate productivity and quality concerns to appropriate resourcesTake initiative to be involved with leadership responsibility such as scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, setup reduction, and other continuous improvement as necessaryOrder production tooling and supply itemsContact outside resources when necessary, such as manufacturing engineer, quality engineer or other equipment support servicesEstablish an effective working relationship with operators, group lead, and department supportPerform all tear down and set-ups for extruders and co-extruderAchieve and maintain extruders with established cycle time and process parametersRead and understand tooling prints, part prints, processes and documentationFill out documentation correctlyPerform accurate manufacturing parts inspectionEffectively use quality equipment such as gauges, tooling scope, micrometer, ruler, etc.Diagnose and troubleshoot basic processing errors such as O.D, I.D., ovality, concentricity, FM, and etc.Understand material properties and effect it has on quality and the processPerform basic maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment such as driers, melt filter, blow off table, cutters, pullers, etc.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required1+ years extrusion experience with demonstrated experience in extrusion, tooling, troubleshooting equipment, and performing machine and process set-upsExperience in GMPProficient computer experience

Preferred Qualifications

2-year technical degree preferredMedical Device industry experience preferred

The base pay for this position is $19.15 – $38.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
