Job Description
As the External Affairs Manager Adriatic, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing the organization’s strategic public affairs, corporate affairs and external communication activities fostering positive relationships with government agencies, business and trade associations, policymakers, healthcare stakeholders and patient associations, media representatives and the local community.
Key objectives include:
+ Proactively shape the policy environment to support patient access and innovation.
+ Foster stronger relationships with key stakeholders and represent AbbVie’s position on Healthcare and Pharma issues
+ Enhance our reputation as a transparent, responsible, and forward-thinking organization.
The External Affairs Manager develops and executes effective public affairs and corporate affairs strategies to build a favorable public image in Adriatic, protecting the company's reputation, and ensure alignment between business objectives and corporate values across diverse stakeholder groups.
Your efforts will be instrumental in ensuring AbbVie's corporate reputation, shaping public opinion, managing stakeholder relations and positively influence the external environment.
This position reports to the Market Access & External Affairs Director of Adriatic & Hungary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Public Affairs
+ Monitor and analyze legislative, economic and regulatory developments affecting the pharmaceutical industry, collect and provide information on policy changes and their impact on AbbVie
+ Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials, industry associations, and relevant agencies to influence policy decisions aligning with AbbVie's interests
+ Work closely with industry associations in Croatia and Slovenia to ensure that AbbVie’s position on Healthcare and Pharma issues is represented in all association strategies, initiatives or projects
+ Represent Abbvie in specific discussions and negotiations with government bodies and institutions.
+ Develop and deliver robust, credible value arguments and propositions for Abbvie products to stakeholders within the healthcare sector
+ Collaborate with key healthcare stakeholders: universities, health organizations, patient advocacy groups and professional associations to build a positive reputation for AbbVie in the AHA region
+ Work closely with Market Access, Medical Affairs, Business and Sales departments to align external affairs strategies with overall business goals
+ Support the Business and Sales teams by providing external affairs insights to enhance market access and customer engagement
+ Collaborate with Immunology, Oncology and Specialty marketing teams to integrate external affairs initiatives into campaigns and product launches
Corporate Affairs
+ Monitor media, drive corporate affairs and external communication in Croatia and Slovenia
+ Design and implement communication strategies that shift public and policymakers' opinion, leveraging data-driven narratives and third-party voices,
+ Manage high-impact communication strategies to engage stakeholders, build a positive company image and protect Abbvie’s corporate reputation in a complex regulatory environment
+ Enhance the GM’s public representation through effective communication strategies in the AHA region
+ Create compelling advocacy campaigns to support AbbVie's policy objectives and engage the public, healthcare professionals, and patients in advocacy efforts,
+ Establish constructive communication, transparency with local and regional teams
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align priorities as part of planning process
+ Prepare the market for our innovations, reach maximum awareness at decision making bodies
Qualifications
+ Relevant University degree (Political Science, Public Affairs or a related field)
+ Direct experience in Public Affairs, Governments Affairs, Communications
+ Strategic thinking, problem-solving oriented with excellence in execution
+ Proficiency with political analysis and experience in assessing and interpreting political development and processes
+ Proficiency with corporate affairs and experience in assessing and interpreting media development and content creation
+ Strong analytical skills to access, develop and manage multistakeholder management
+ Ability to provide direction and informally lead a cross-functional team to achieve objectives
+ Ability to drive complex cross-functional collaboration to develop a strategy for the benefit of the business
+ Excellent project and time management skills
+ Ability to work in a team environment
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office
+ Strong track of building ethical, compliant and professional relationships with all stakeholders
+ Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
+ Fluency in Croatian (both written and verbal); additionally, strong knowledge of Slovenian is preferred.
