You'll have... 

Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience interfacing with studios to deliver Class “A” Parts that meet engineering requirements, manufacturing requirements, and global regulation. Experience may be acquired prior to completion of degree.   5 years of experience in each of the following:   o Creating or modifying CAD with TCE, CATIA, or 3DX; o Delivering craftsmanship expectations and benchmarking for exterior systems, including fit and finish differences of competitive vehicles; o Resolving packaging requirements for exterior systems while delivering studio surfaces; and o Using exterior systems commodity manufacturing processes.  Also requires 3 years of experience developing automotive body exterior systems in an engineering role. Experience may be acquired prior to completion of degree. 

We are offering a salary of $125,362.00 - $195,792.48/yr.

What you’ll be able to do: 

Exterior Systems Design and Release Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, Michigan). Position reports to Dearborn, MI office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy but must live within commuting distance of stated office. Design, develop, validate and release parts (fixed glass, wipers and washers, EV charge ports, fuel doors, leaf-screens, badging, appliques, spoilers, running boards, roof rails, etc.) under their responsibility for assigned program(s). Lead early development and system feasibility with studio and program management teams. Responsible for continuous design efficiency which includes but is not limited to design improvements to quality, cost, and weight. Design parts in compliance with Corporate, Local, and Global Regulatory Requirements, considering WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications), SDS (Systems Design specifications). Design parts that meet Manufacturing and Assembly requirements and oversee incorporation at the Assembly Plant(s). Actively participate in technical design reviews. Must be willing to travel domestically 20% and internationally 2%.
