Export Compliance Professional
**Introduction** IBM's Export Regulation Office is responsible for obtaining all US export authorizations necessary to deliver IBM hardware, software, technology and services worldwide (180+ countries) to both internal and external clients. We are looking for an individual with an IT or technology manufacturing background to join a team of compliance professionals responsible for establishing and enforcing corporate policy for compliance with US and non-US export regulations, trade regulations advocacy, and a management system for reviewing transactions involving potential reputational risks. **Your role and responsibilities** The candidate will participate in activities such as engaging with internal IBM business teams to achieve compliant solutions, conducting corporate business development due diligence, leading internal export compliance reviews, and delivering against corporate education objectives. As a member of the Export Regulation Office, this position will serve as a resource for IBM's global export compliance network and all employees on complying with export regulations. This involves interfacing with all areas of IBM's extensive global operations, including, but not limited to, Research, Development, Manufacturing, Services, HR, Finance, Legal, and Sales & Delivery. **Required technical and professional expertise** The successful candidate for this position will be able to employ effective problem-solving skills with the ability to: * Conduct comprehensive analyses, lead projects, provide training, conduct reviews, and interpret regulations. * An IT-related background in cloud computing, AI, or programming or a manufacturing-related background with Quantum computing, semiconductor manufacturing, or other microelectronics is strongly preferred. * A strong IT or technology manufacturing background will be considered in lieu of regulatory experience. **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Experience in classifying hardware, software, and technology products under the U.S. Commerce Department's Export Administration Regulations (EAR), specifically products under Commerce Control List (CCL) categories 3-5, as well as experience with cloud computing technologies. * Experience managing compliance with the U.S. State Department’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and sanctions programs administered by the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). * Experience in analyzing regulatory or compliance changes and assessing their business and technical impacts. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical teams to interpret requirements and support implementation. * 5+ years of experience in IT or related industry.
