Expert/Senior Algorithm Engineer - Radar Perception

At Aptiv, we are at the forefront of revolutionizing mobility, and we specialize in developing advanced safety systems for the automotive industry, ensuring every aspect of driving is safer and more reliable.

Our department is responsible for the development of radar perception software end-to-end, e.g., processing data received from sensors, generating object data and estimating other important information in the surrounding environment. Our customers, as well as our internal stakeholders, then use our output to develop feature functions such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and various levels of automated driving functionality.

Your Role:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Algorithm Engineer to join our Radar Perception Division in Kraków. In this role, you will contribute to the development of core perception algorithms and machine learning models that power our radar-based understanding of the environment. You will be responsible for driving innovation in object classification, contour association, tracking, and behavior prediction, while ensuring optimal runtime performance and resource efficiency across diverse hardware platforms.

Area of responsibility:

the development of radar perception algorithms for object and contour classification, tracking, and behavior prediction

Ensure runtime and resource optimization (CPU, memory) across various embedded hardware architectures

Define and enforce architectural principles and vision for radar perception software

Support system architects in selecting and evaluating system architecture options for radar perception

Guide the integration of traditional algorithms (e.g., Kalman filters) with modern ML techniques

Ensure configurability and scalability of solutions for different hardware setups

Collaborate closely with system, software, and testing teams to ensure seamless integration and validation

Support continuous improvement of simulation tools and testing environments

Troubleshoot and resolve complex algorithmic and performance issuess

Your Background:

Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related field

Proven experience in designing and developing complex algorithms, particularly in the area of radar perception, including but not limited to object and contour classification, association, tracking, behavior prediction

Strong understanding of signal processing, statistical modeling, and sensor fusion

Proficiency in C/C++; experience with Python and MATLAB is a plus

Demonstrated ability to optimize algorithms for embedded systems

Experience in system-level thinking and architectural trade-offs

Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skill

Nice to have:

Experience in developing embedded-optimized machine learning models, for example in the area of object classification, contour-based drivability classification, and radar-based semantic segmentation

Experience working in ADAS projects, preferably in perception or feature function development

Experience in automotive standards, e.g., A-Spice and ISO26262

Hands-on experience working in CI/CD environments, including integration, automated testing, and deployment pipeline
