IU Health | Expert Financial Advisor Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid) Schedule: Full-Time, Day Department: Regional CFO
Position Overview IU Health is seeking an Expert Financial Advisor to join our physician group finance leadership team. This director-level role reports directly to the Vice President, Regional CFO, and serves as a financial thought partner to physician and administrative leaders across key departments. The position is embedded within a matrixed finance structure and plays a pivotal role in shaping regional strategy and organizational performance.
About the Team This role supports the statewide IU Health Physician Group (IUHMG), composed of approximately 3,000 physicians, 1,500 advanced practice providers, and 6,000 support staff. The Expert Financial Advisor is one of several director-level leaders serving as trusted advisors to dyad physician and administrative leadership across IUHMG. Specific areas of support for this position include the academic and community medicine departments providing Primary Care, Pediatric Specialties, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Emergency Medicine in the Indianapolis metro region.
Key Responsibilities
Lead development of executive-level reporting packages on costs, revenue, expenses, and clinical and operational metricsInterpret and analyze complex data sets across financial, operational, clinical, and economic domains to guide strategic decisionsAdvise operational leaders on financial performance, decision impact, and long-term outcomesSupport budget planning, cost management, and performance improvement initiativesServe as a financial point of contact for assigned departments, building strong relationships and driving informed planningPartner with leadership to direct long-range financial planning and annual operating and capital budgetsFacilitate large-scale process improvement initiatives and provide hands-on analytical supportInfluence cross-functional teams through data-driven insights and collaborative leadership without direct management oversightQualifications
Bachelor's degree required7 to 10 years of relevant financial experience, ideally within healthcare or similarly complex industriesDemonstrated knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory guidelinesProven success interfacing with executive leadership and driving enterprise-level outcomesExperience leading transformative initiatives tied to measurable business performance
