**Job Summary**
The Compensation Manager is responsible for playing a pivotal role in the design, development and management of compensation programs by supporting internal partners on numerous compensation challenges across various levels. The role supports the Compensation group and Human Resources (HR) functions in guiding partners to arrive at accurate strategic and compensation decisions. The position also plays an important role in the compensation decision process.
**Main Responsibilities**
**Field Support**
· Partner with HR Business Partners and Management to keep abreast with organizational changes and support the field on all compensation-related strategies to attract, retain and support talent within different functions of CN and subsidiaries
· Support different functions and subsidiaries on all compensation-related matters for Canada and the US
· Provide guidance and compensation recommendations for external hires and appointments, international and cross-border cases (in collaboration with the relocation team), systemic issues and complex cases
· Perform various compensation related analysis to support effective compensation-related decisions and provide interpretation, results and trends, including the optimization of HR processes related to rewards.
**Job Evaluation and Ongoing Compensation Projects**
· Participate in the job evaluation process
· Support partners in the preparation, review and evaluation of jobs to ensure understanding and appropriate actions
· Support other ad hoc projects (such as HR Transformation initiatives, various other analyses, etc.
**Compensation Benchmarks, Surveys, Annual Salary Review and Proxy**
· Participate in the general and market specific compensation surveys to ensure proper alignment with market practices and trends
· Perform annual benchmarking and compression reviews to support the annual compensation budget
· Provide direct support in the annual compensation budget preparations
· Partner with HR Business Partners during the compensation cycle to ensure that sound and transparent annual salary reviews align with business needs and interests
**Working Conditions**
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress.

**Experience**
**Compensation Management**
· Minimum 7 years of experience in compensation management
**Education/Certification/Designation**
· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Mathematics, or equivalent

**Technical Skills/Knowledge**
· Solid understanding of all compensation plans and related compensation fields
· Ability to explain specialized and complex technical compensation issues
· Good understanding of employment legislation
· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
