Job Title: Purchasing Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our team on a 6-month contract with the potential for extension. You will be working in a dynamic environment with a world-leading automation company, where you will play a crucial role in managing purchasing documentation and maintaining supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

Process purchasing documentation such as requisitions, purchase orders, and cancellation forms in accordance with company procedures.Monitor and maintain purchase order deliveries, liaising with production coordinators to administer changes with minimal impact on production schedules.Expedite and resolve issues with suppliers regarding costs, quality, quantity, and delivery of goods.Communicate with and evaluate vendors to ascertain their ability to meet company requirements, goals, and objectives.Negotiate prices, credit terms, discounts, and delivery arrangements with suppliers.Keep informed of new sources of supply for materials and services.Perform ongoing reviews of product, service, equipment, and expense usage to identify cost-saving opportunities.Resolve invoicing discrepancies and present them for approval.Effectively use historical data and benchmarking to ensure competitive pricing.Assist high level team members with special projects and tasks as required.Act as a key resource for staff by assisting in research and development of product, service, and equipment alternatives.Adhere to all company procedures and departmental policies.Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the company's Code of Business Conduct.

Essential Skills

Experience in purchasing, subcontract management, supply chain, and procurement.Proficiency in expediting materials and purchase orders.Experience with vendor management and ERP systems (JDE).Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and logistics.Ability to manage delivery timelines effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Member of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC).Understanding of engineering drawings.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing setting within an office environment, requiring interaction with production and engineering departments. Reporting to a director and a team lead, the position requires strong communication and collaboration skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $30.32/hr.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Cambridge,ON.
