Exercise Physiologist

As an Exercise Physiologist, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression for patients with cardiovascular disease in a rehabilitative setting. In this role, you will conduct pre and post rehabilitation testing, including assessments of strength, body composition, flexibility, balance, and endurance, and provide high quality support across both acute and outpatient phases of recovery while collaborating within a multi-site organization to care for complex patients who have undergone advanced cardiac procedures. This position provides direct patient care for patients recovering from open heart surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention. **A caregiver in this role works varying shifts Monday through Friday between 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., (variable start/end times) and will rotate a half-day shift (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) on Saturdays.** **_This position will support both the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic North Canton Family Health Center locations._** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance. + Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. + Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response. + Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention. + Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise. + Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals. + Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Background in Cardiac Rehabilitation + Experience with Inpatient Care (Post-Surgery Patients, Monitoring Vitals, etc.) + Working Knowledge of EKG Rhythms **Physical Requirements:** + Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk. + Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients. + Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise. **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $18.88 Maximum hourly: $28.80 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
