The EVP, Production – DBT is the senior executive responsible for overseeing all aspects of production strategy, execution, and network delivery for Disney Branded Television. This role leads a diverse portfolio of animated and live-action preschool, kids & family content across multiple platforms, ensuring creative excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with the company’s strategic objectives.
The EVP serves as a key member of the DBT senior leadership team and acts as a bridge between creative development, production, post-production, and network delivery. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of preschool, kids & family content pipelines, union and labor dynamics, and emerging production technologies, while also demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, and change management skills.
The EVP will manage both internally produced and third-party productions, overseeing a large slate of content for linear networks and a streaming platform.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the long-term vision for production and network delivery in alignment with DBT’s mission and growth goals.
- Partner with senior creative and business leaders to shape the content slate and production roadmap.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to modernize workflows, integrate new technologies, and drive innovation in content delivery.
- Lead global teams to support franchises and production strategy.
Production Oversight
- Oversee all phases of production from development through delivery, ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and creatively aligned.
- Manage relationships with creative and business stakeholders, internal production teams, external vendors, and co-production partners.
- Ensure compliance with union agreements, safety protocols, and corporate standards.
Talent & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of production executives, production companies, and show crews.
- Champion inclusion in hiring, staffing, and storytelling.
- Support career development and succession planning across the production organization.
Network Delivery
- Collaborate with scheduling, marketing, and platform partners to optimize content rollout strategies for acquisitions and original content.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external industry leaders.
- Analyze performance data to inform delivery decisions and audience engagement strategies.
Change Management & Innovation
- Drive transformation initiatives related to pipeline efficiency, real-time production, and cross-platform integration.
- Serve as a thought leader on industry trends, labor negotiations, and evolving audience behaviors.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of senior leadership experience in television or film production, preferably within a studio or network environment.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale productions and leading diverse teams.
- Deep knowledge of union regulations (e.g., TAG, IATSE), production finance, and scheduling.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with animation and live-action pipelines, including familiarity with real-time engines (e.g., Unreal) is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and foster innovation.
The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $497,986 to $668,030 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
