Job DescriptionWe are seeking a visionary and innovative Executive Pastry Chef to join our team at Avani Kota Kinabalu Hotel. As the leader of our pastry department, you will be responsible for creating exceptional desserts and pastries that delight our guests while managing a talented team of pastry professionals.
Oversee the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentationDevelop and implement new dessert menus, incorporating local flavors and international trendsLead and mentor a team of pastry chefs, fostering a culture of creativity and excellenceCollaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service and guest satisfactionManage inventory, control costs, and optimize resource utilizationEnsure compliance with food safety and hygiene standardsParticipate in special events and promotions, showcasing innovative pastry creationsConduct regular training sessions to enhance the skills of the pastry teamStay updated on industry trends and incorporate new techniques into the pastry programQualificationsAdvanced degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, or related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant settingProven track record of managing and leading a pastry teamExceptional skills in cake decorating, chocolate work, and sugar artistryStrong knowledge of classical and modern pastry techniquesCreativity and innovation in developing unique dessert conceptsExcellent organizational and time management skillsProficiency in inventory management and cost controlStrong leadership and team-building abilitiesExcellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is a plusFamiliarity with Malaysian cuisine and local ingredients is highly desirableFood safety certification (e.g., ServSafe)Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
