PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Executive Director will play an integral role in advancing CIBC Capital Markets’ lending strategy through integrating active portfolio management within our European and UK platforms. This includes liaising with relationship managers, credit risk management, senior management, internal and external stakeholders, to review, asses and monitor the growing book of clients. The role requires building and managing relationships with clients, coaching and developing the team, working seamlessly with relationship managers London and Luxembourg and the loan syndication team in London. In addition, collaborating with product partners across the Capital Markets franchise to ensure we are unlocking ancillary business opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a senior member of the Corporate Banking team, to manage and monitor the growing portfolioTake over day to day and long term ownership responsibility for growing number of accounts including detailed monitoring for project finance loans, review and evaluation of amendments, waivers and consents, and refinancing transactions, in line with CIBC’s European strategy and risk appetiteRemain current on existing client base, industry trends, economic trends, and market intelligence.Ensures high quality of credit analysis conducted, compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirementsCoordinate legal documentation in conjunction with internal credit approvals for amendments, etc.Represent firms interest externally and internally through restructurings, in the event the need arises.Respond to requests from internal and external Auditors and Bank ExaminersTrack on time delivery of Borrower’s reporting obligations, coordinate review of Budgets, Op Reports, Financials, Risk Ratings etc with Risk ManagementCoordinate and support operational matters (including loan payoffs, syndication process) on loans.Support deal teams for refinancings or new transactions, the execution (including internal process and conduct necessary due diligence) and ensure appropriate closing of the transaction.Support the team as necessary on onboarding new clients, preparation of marketing materials, and development of internal policies, rating models and other toolsSupport other senior members of the Corporate Banking team from time to time and develop a strong internal network, relationships across geographies and a personal profile within the firm, including interacting on a regular basis with Executive Committee Members in LuxembourgEnsure recommendations and opinions offered to clients are in compliance with legislation and regulation and are of the highest professional standards and that they reflect our risk appetite statementWork effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g., Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal / reputational issues and shareholder objectives are coveredProvide mentorship to junior staff and contribute fresh perspectives to the businessREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
Strong work ethic with attention to detailMinimum 10 years’ experience in European renewables, infrastructure, or project finance, with a strong track record in structuring and executing complex credit transactionsDeep understanding of the renewables, infrastructure, and energy transition sectors, including market influences and capital markets activitySophisticated skills in credit analysis, and cashflow/project finance modelling, with strong experience preparing and analyzing complex credit documentation and due diligenceTeam player with excellent collaboration and organizational skills, as well as adaptabilityStrong presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to clients and internal stakeholdersUnquestioned ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to teamwork, trust and accountabilityProficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPointWhat you need to know
