PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Executive Director will play a key role in advancing CIBC Capital Markets’ lending strategy across continental Europe. This includes leading the origination, structuring, and execution of financing solutions in sectors such as Renewables, Energy Transition, Infrastructure, and Midstream markets. The role requires building and managing relationships with both existing and prospective clients, coaching and developing the team, acting as a relationship manager, and collaborating with product partners across the Capital Markets franchise to source ancillary business opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as a senior member of the Corporate Banking, Continental Europe team, developing and executing strategic initiatives to expand the bank’s lending presence and client relationships across the 17 approved regionsLead the origination, structuring, and execution of new and refinancing transactions, in line with CIBC’s European strategy and risk appetite, including underwritten transactionsBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients and industry, representing CIBC in the European market and supporting the development of a respected market profileManage a select portfolio of existing borrowers, ensuring their ongoing credit needs are met, credit quality is maintained, and compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirementsConduct market and sector analysis, including tracking trends in energy and transition, infrastructure, project finance, and capital markets activity, and preparing regular market update materials for internal and external stakeholdersCollaborating across CIBC platform to deepen share of wallet and ensure coordinated coverage given growing global platform capabilities (with Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Global Markets)Supporting the Head and capital markets teams with prospecting, origination, structuring and execution of transactions and working with Loan Syndications team with distribution, secondary sales, etc.Assist the Head in preparation of opinion / materials required for internal committeesSupport other senior members of the Corporate Banking team from time to time and develop a strong internal network, relationships across geographies and a personal profile within the firm, including interacting on a regular basis with Executive Committee Members in LuxembourgEnsure recommendations and opinions offered to clients are in compliance with legislation and regulation and are of the highest professional standards and that they reflect our risk appetite statementWork effectively within CIBC's corporate governance practices and policies (e.g., Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal / reputational issues and shareholder objectives are coveredProvide mentorship to junior staff and contribute fresh perspectives to the business

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:

Minimum 10 years’ experience in European renewables, infrastructure, or project finance, with a strong track record in structuring and executing complex credit transactionsDeep understanding of the renewables, infrastructure, and energy transition sectors, including market influences and capital markets activityFully conversant in corporate finance, credit analysis, and cashflow/project finance modelling, with strong experience preparing and analyzing complex credit documentation and due diligenceProven ability to differentiate through high-quality client coverage and tailored solutionsExcellent relationship management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to respond to shifting priorities across multiple projectsStrong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information to clients and internal stakeholdersUnquestioned ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to teamwork, trust and accountabilityProficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
