Job DescriptionWe are seeking a visionary and innovative Executive Chef to lead our culinary team in Gaborone, Botswana. As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction.
Develop and implement creative, seasonally-inspired menus that showcase both local and international cuisinesManage and mentor a diverse kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environmentOversee food cost control, inventory management, and budget planning to maximize profitabilityEnsure compliance with all health, safety, and food hygiene regulationsCollaborate with the management team to enhance overall guest experience and drive business growthImplement and maintain quality control standards for all food preparation and presentationParticipate in staff recruitment, training, and performance evaluationsStay current with culinary trends and incorporate innovative techniques into menu offeringsEngage with guests to gather feedback and continuously improve dining experiencesDevelop and maintain relationships with local suppliers to source high-quality ingredientsQualificationsMinimum of 3 years of experience as an Executive Chef in a high-volume restaurant or hotel settingFormal culinary qualification from a recognized institutionProven track record of successful kitchen management and staff leadershipExtensive knowledge of OHS/HACCP standards and food safety regulationsStrong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost controlExcellent menu planning and development skillsProficiency in inventory management systems and kitchen technologyOutstanding interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environmentDemonstrated creativity and innovation in culinary techniques and presentationKnowledge of Botswanan cuisine and local ingredients is highly desirableFluency in English; knowledge of Setswana or other local languages is a plusAdditional InformationBotswana citizens only
