Job details We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and analytical Project Estimator to join our clients General Contracting team. This role is crucial for our clients success, as you will be responsible for creating precise, competitive estimates and managing the bid process for a high volume of our commercial construction projects. This position focuses heavily on civil, hardscape, and landscape development projects, including complex mass grading, utility work, retention ponds, and the development of commercial sites like strip centers. ...
Responsibilities:
Estimate Development: Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely cost estimates for commercial construction projects, primarily focusing on hardscape, landscape, and civil developments (e.g., multimillion-dollar playgrounds, neighborhood sidewalks, parking lots, strip centers, and retention ponds).

Mass Grading & Utility Takeoffs: Specialize in estimating costs for mass grading, dirtwork, and underground utility installation, including storm drainage, water lines, and sewer systems.

Model Building: Utilize estimation software to build GPS models (e.g., for civil equipment) from site plans and blueprints to calculate quantities and ensure accuracy in the field.

Bid Management: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, manage the internal review process, and prepare comprehensive bid packages for submission.

Budget Forecasting: Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Maintain excellent relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable lead times for materials.

Project Handoff: Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Superintendents (the field team) during the pre-construction phase to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Previous estimation experience, particularly in utilities, excavation, and mass grading, is highly preferred.
