Job Title: EstimatorJob Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring competitive and profitable bids. This role provides an opportunity to work directly under the Director of this division, offering the freedom to lead meetings, be the face on site, and advance to become the Chief Estimator, taking estimating responsibilities away from the Director. This is a chance to become the go-to person for the Estimating Department.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential project data.Develop and maintain cost databases and historical data for future reference.Prepare bid packages and participate in bid reviews.Monitor project budgets and provide cost control support throughout the project lifecycle.Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
Essential Skills5+ years of Estimating experience working for a subcontractor.Experience in rough and finish carpentry.Proficiency in using Edge or Bluebeam, estimating software, and Microsoft Office.Experience in preconstruction.Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.Experience in multi-family, retail, and/or commercial construction estimation.
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced, and the candidate will have their own office. The position is onsite in Troy, with very rare travel required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Troy, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $62.50/hr.
