Our client is a Canadian owned and operated company specializing in powerline transmission, distribution, and underground cable work.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Project Services, the Estimator is responsible for developing cost estimates as part of proposal submissions as well as the ongoing improvement and development of the estimating systems and software. The candidate must be capable of performing all facets of a construction estimate including determination of quantities, costing and sub-trade participation and pricing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•\tWorking with the lead Estimator, this role is responsible for preparing and overseeing all aspects of the estimate/tender/RFP/ RFQ / RFT or other form of bid documentation
•\tReviews proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work
•\tPrepares detailed estimates for all facets of the planned scope
•\tMaintains files of working documents as backup for estimate figures including current information on supplier pricing
•\tObtains Sub Contractor pricing as required
•\tObtains material & equipment rental pricing as required
•\tEnsures consistency and quality of estimates in reporting to operations, management and client
•\tContinuously upgrades/improves and enhances software used for estimating
•\tAccountable and responsible for accuracy and completeness of assigned estimates
•\tReferences historical costs and production to current cost estimates for continuous improvement
•\tCompletes post bid analysis as required
MUST HAVES:
•\tClear and thorough understanding of how to prepare a cost estimate and quantity takeoff
•\tClear and professional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
•\tAbility to deal effectively with all levels within different functional areas of the company as well as external customers
•\tExceptional analytical, planning and organizational skills
•\tProven decision making competence
•\tExpertise in Excel and MS office programs such as MS Project
someone with either construction estimating experience (does not need to be electrical) or experience in powerline construction or powerline construction management
Preference Given to Persons who are/have:
•\tTechnical, university, or trade certificate (electrician, lineman or the like)
•\t5 years or more project management or field supervision
•\tOver 5 years’ experience in commercial construction estimating, transmission and/or distribution power systems.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $111000.00/yr.
