**Job Summary**
The Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) **Technical Trainer II** Develops the learning strategies, curriculum development, and communications as part of a Battelle’s approach to ESH organizational learning and development. Delivers house-designed and purchased core courses from the curriculum in a variety of e-learning, in-person, and virtual formats. Measures, analyzes, and reports the effectiveness of learning solutions. The role is also responsible for leading Batelle’s ongoing ES&H communications, which is designed to engage and inform staff on matters related to ESH requirements and culture alignment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Creates and delivers effective ES&H compliance and safety culture training focused training to meet Battelle’s operational needs.
+ Designs, develops and delivers engaging, compliant, and effective training options. Customizes content to align to team performance outcomes. Measures effectiveness and ensures proper application of training initiatives.
+ Evaluates, reviews and interprets technical documentation and existing course materials for developing instructional materials. Researches or reviews research to develop technical content and design training materials.
+ Contributes to defining the learning curriculum using adult learning theory and instructional design principles and practices. Assesses learning needs; develops learning solutions; and creates, identifies, or revises the learning materials to be delivered. Recommends an appropriate delivery method for each and may revise course materials as needed. Understands and integrates learning with related business processes.
+ Establishes, manages and communicates instructor-led training program delivery schedule.
+ Develops training requirements compliance matrix in coordination with key stakeholders and assigns role-based training to staff using Battelle’s Learning Management System.
+ Designs, creates, and applies learner assessments that use data such as participant feedback, proficiency testing, and job performance to measure the effectiveness of learning solutions against defined targets. Track and analyze results to determine success and provides recommendations to modify learning solutions where necessary.
+ Provides recommendations on selecting vendor products that will meet learning needs following criteria defined in the learning strategy as well as on the monitoring and evaluation of vendor performance. Works with a Procurement Officer to solicit proposals and quotes, to negotiate the procurement, and to monitor and evaluate vendor performance.
+ Maintains effective relationships with subject matter experts, preferred vendors, sponsors, and other key stakeholders. Works with management to incorporate learning into release management and change management as part of the software development life cycle.
+ Develops and delivers current, frequent, and effective ESH-related communications applicable to Battelle operations. Partners with Battelle’s Learning & Development and Marketing and Communications teams to ensure alignment across initiatives, agreements and to ensure efficiency.
+ Partners and aligns with Battelle’s Corporate Marketing and Communications to develop and implement Battelle’s ESH program branding campaign.
+ Coordinates and collaborates with other Battelle culture improvement-based initiatives.
**Key Qualifications**
+ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; five years of experience to include assessing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating instruction for adult learners at all levels; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field. Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design principles and best practices, as well as current and emerging trends and methods in the learning and development industry.
+ Experience developing and delivering course materials in a variety of formats including e-learning modules, mobile access, live instruction, and other innovative technologies. Demonstrated skill providing engaging, dynamic and innovative learning solutions with poise, confidence, and the ability quickly to gain the trust and respect of key stakeholders and learners. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships.
+ Experience with ability to work on multiple projects, meet deadlines, and provide products that engage the customer. Clear, effective written communication with staff at all levels of the organization. Comfortable, flexible, and successful in environments with changing priorities, ambiguity, and frequent obstacles.
+ This position may require occasional travel to various training locations.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience integrating adult learning with management system approaches.
+ Experience in a research environment such as private, academic, or government research.
+ Experience working in a high hazard environment.
+ Knowledge of ESH training requirements.
+ Knowledge of ESH regulations and standards.
