**Job Overview**
The Bar General Manager of Equipment Room is the cultural steward and operational leader of one of Bunkhouse’s most recognized listening lounges. This role is responsible for protecting the soul of the space while driving performance, hospitality, and profitability.
Equipment Room is known for its uncompromising sound, curated vinyl programming, award-winning cocktail program, and late-night energy. The General Manager sets the tone — leading a team that delivers a world-class guest experience rooted in music, community, and thoughtful hospitality. This position requires presence, taste, and intuition, paired with strong operational discipline.
The GM creates an environment where guests feel welcomed, the music is respected, the cocktails are intentional, and the team feels inspired to contribute creatively and execute consistently.

Equipment Room is a nationally recognized listening lounge celebrated for its analog sound system, vinyl-forward programming, and intimate late-night culture. Known for its accolades within music, cocktail, and hospitality communities, the space serves as a destination for artists, locals, and travelers alike. The General Manager is responsible for honoring this legacy while continuing to evolve the experience.
**Qualifications:**
**Qualifications & Requirements**
**Essential**
· Proven leadership in high-volume, culture-driven bar or lounge environments
· Strong understanding of hospitality as an experience — not just service
· Ability to work long hours on your feet in a fast-paced nightlife setting
· Clear and confident communicator with guests and teams
· Strong organizational skills; able to multitask and prioritize in real time
· Detail-oriented with high standards for execution, cleanliness, and presentation
· Ability to lead independently while collaborating cross-functionally
· Professional appearance and adherence to grooming, hygiene, and sanitation standards
· Reliable, punctual, and accountable
· Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
· Knowledge of local liquor laws and responsible service
**Preferred**
· Multilingual
· College degree
· 4 years of experience leading high-volume, high-quality bars, lounges, or listening spaces
· Strong appreciation for music culture, vinyl, DJs, and sound systems
**Core Responsibilities**
**Guest Experience, Culture & Community**
· Act as the face and heartbeat of Equipment Room, building relationships with loyal guests and first-time visitors
· Protect and elevate the listening lounge experience — sound, lighting, flow, and room energy
· Partner closely with Breakaway Records to ensure music programming stays intentional, authentic, and on-brand
· Lead the team in understanding the music so they can confidently engage, educate, and connect with guests
· Ensure consistent execution of an award-winning cocktail program that complements the space and vibe
· Maintain an active presence during service to ensure guest satisfaction and room balance
· Develop and program special events, artist moments, and late-night activations that reinforce Equipment Room’s reputation
**Business & Performance**
· Drive revenue while protecting the integrity of the concept
· Collaborate with leadership to grow guest counts and strengthen loyalty
· Manage labor, beverage cost, and operating expenses with precision
· Identify opportunities to optimize profitability without sacrificing experience
**Leadership & Team Culture**
· Lead with intention, taste, and accountability
· Create an environment that is creative, disciplined, and fun
· Build a team culture that values curiosity, hospitality, and pride in craft
· Schedule effectively based on business needs and nightlife flow
· Lead weekly meetings focused on performance, culture, and growth
· Coach and develop managers through consistent feedback and mentorship
· Support succession planning and internal growth
**Recruiting, Training & Development**
· Recruit and hire high-caliber team members aligned with the Equipment Room ethos
· Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for service standards, cocktails, music, and hospitality
· Ensure all front-of-house staff present a polished, intentional, and welcoming image
· Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout the space
**Team Development & Accountability**
· Continuously assess team performance and morale
· Create development plans tailored to individual strengths and opportunities
· Partner with leadership to align labor strategy, cost controls, and business goals
