Job Description:

Duties include performing service and repair on emission and safety inspection equipment located in New Jersey motor vehicle inspection facilities.  Typical tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance procedures, responding to and performing emergency repair service, completing required equipment calibrations, and accounting for spare parts and replacement equipment daily.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for routine lane inspection, equipment servicing, and repair at their assigned station.Shall perform state vehicle inspections as directed by management.Shall respond to repair service calls at other locations as dispatched by the region manager or designee.   Mileage will be paid to the employee for business travel at the current mileage reimbursement rate.Perform regularly scheduled preventive maintenance routines on inspection equipment, including the emission inspection equipment, Hunter brake machines and printers.Accountability, daily, for spare parts and equipment.  Ensure that weekly and monthly inventory is accurate, complete and submitted on a timely basis.Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate


PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Strong technical competencies regarding emission and safety equipment service and repair.  Must have the ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle.  Possess a valid driver’s license.  Must posses and maintain a valid New Jersey Inspector’s license.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Must have good oral communication skills. Must possess and use good customer service skills. Ability and willingness to learn through entry-level, advanced and ongoing technical training. Willingness to accept responsibility for maintaining an accurate accounting of spare parts and replacement equipment.

Salary Range: $26.59 - $46.54
