Duties Description Duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Function as a key member of the Language Access team within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in supporting the implementation of language access operations for OPWDD staff, individuals with developmental disabilities receiving services from OPWDD, and provider agencies operating under the auspices of OPWDD. -Responsible for processing, fulfilling and managing all language access requests for translation and interpretation services at OPWDD; including, but not limited to: ·Managing request data in Microsoft SharePoint, ensuring requests are processed promptly and the data is entered into the system accurately. ·Communicating with language access vendors throughout the day to ensure that all requests are completed within the appropriate timelines. ·Performing daily quality control checks on all incoming and outgoing written translation requests. ·Daily monitoring of the language access requests, complaints, and vendors shared mailboxes. ·Providing support and technical assistance to OPWDD staff, provider agencies, and people/families we serve regarding language access services. ·Managing the internal Translated Materials Library by uploading and organizing translated versions of all agency-wide documents; supporting the Language Access team and other divisions with the external Translated Materials Library. ·Supporting data management by generating reports from our internal SharePoint system and external vendor systems, as well as organizing and reporting the monthly request data to OPWDD staff.-Collaborate with the Language Access team to evaluate ongoing language access needs and develop projects to enhance the cultural and linguistic quality of services we provide to people with I/DD and their families; including, but not limited to: ·Assisting with the implementation of OPWDD's Language Access Policies & Procedures, and Language Access Plan. ·Assisting in the development and implementation of special projects aimed at improving language access services. ·Facilitating training sessions for OPWDD staff that focus on the language access protocols and best practices. ·Enhancing language access guidelines for vendors aimed at improving the quality and linguistic competence of services provided. ·Collaborating with vendors to develop glossary of terms and style guidelines for translation projects. Conducting secondary reviews of translated materials with community-based organizations and vendors, as needed. ·Supporting the design and implementation of satisfaction surveys for staff and the public to report on the quality of language services received; work closely with vendors to address any issues. ·Actively engaging with the NYS Office of General Services' Office of Language Access and its networks. -All other duties as assigned, with the understanding that language access is a constantly evolving part of service delivery at OPWDD. Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: six years of experience* in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, or human rights. *Qualifying experience includes working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members. Substitutions: associate’s degree may substitute for two years of the nonsupervisory experience; bachelor’s degree for four years; and J.D. or master’s degree for five years. Preferred Qualifications:- Passion for systems change and diversity, equity, and inclusion for people with developmental disabilities and other marginalized identities.- Significant experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).- 1-2 years of experience entering, interpreting, and/or managing data into spreadsheets and using a cloud-based database.- 1-2 years of data visualization experience, including creating graphics, charts, tables, presentations, reports, and/or other materials to communicate information to others.
Additional Comments • Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for M/C Grade 18 ($67,119) and Downstate Adjustment ($4,000). Downstate adjustment added to the job rate ($83,286). • Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
