As a Environmental Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and supporting the implementation of environmental management programs. Under the supervision of the SDMS SHE Manager, you will assist in environmental inspections, hazardous materials and waste management, and other compliance activities. Key Responsibilities: Conduct documented inspections for Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) compliance Assist in weekly containment inspections, central accumulation area inspections, and monthly stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) inspections Support hazardous materials and hazardous waste compliance efforts at Naval Base San Diego Assist in spill clean-up and provide support for BAE Systems over-water oil transfers Issue waste drums for various crafts, including proper labeling, database entry, and tracking through disposal Organize waste streams for shipment **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Typically requires a High school diploma or the overall equivalent + Entry-level working experience in hazardous materials/waste management + Knowledgeable in environmental regulations and hazardous waste management + Ability to work independently and also as part of a team + Strong attention to detail and organizational skills + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills + Physical Requirements: + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent walking, standing, and lifting + Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Experience driving a forklift. + Note: Driver License would be required for forklift certification. + Adept at managing hazardous materials and hazardous waste. + Experience conducting documented environmental compliance inspections. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $46680 - $74687 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
