The Opportunity:

At Photonics Ops South, A CACI Company, we specialize in the design, development and manufacturing of complex, state-of-the-art systems for military, space, and commercial applications.  Our products include optical and RF communication systems as well as sophisticated image processing & visualization systems.

We are currently looking for an Environmental Systems Test Engineer with experience in opto-mechanical system integration, system test planning, and system test execution.

Responsibilities:

Proven track record of working with test, flight, and safety-critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment.Previous experience with spacecraft/satellite environmental test development and/or execution, hardware ownership (responsible engineer), or hardware qualification and/or acceptance testing.Hardware/software and opto-mechanical system integrationDevelopment of system-level test plans, based on system requirementsDevelopment of system test approaches and test fixtures, especially for optical-mechanical systemsDefinition and execution of system optical and/or communication performance-testsPrototype module test and debug supportSupport of optical, electrical and mechanical component selection and testSystem-level troubleshootingExcellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.Develop documentation to support troubleshooting effortsCoordinate with design engineer subject matter experts across each affected system under test to integrate the identified system verification requirements into the detailed test plan for the development risk reduction and/or verification run for record event as appropriate.Conduct test design reviews, integration readiness reviews, and test readiness reviews for your events.

Qualifications:

Required: 

5+ years’ experience in bring-up of electro-optical systemsExperience with Thermal Vacuum Chambers (TVAC) and Vibration testingExperience using equipment such as VOAs, OSAs, Power Meters, oscilloscopesUnderstanding of communications: serial, USB, ethernetUnderstanding of electronic, optical, and mechanical systemsSelf-motivated and self-directed individual, with little supervision necessaryExcellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired:

Master’s degree or PhD in in Mechanical, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.Proficient use of lab automation software (Python preferred)      preferred)

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$71,500 - $150,200
