POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery (GBR) has an opening for an Air Environmental Engineer/Specialist, within the Environmental Department. The individual will have proficiency in NSR and Title V air programs at Galveston Bay Refinery (GBR) and South Houston Green Power (SHGP). The role will support and ensure environmental compliance across refinery operations including the development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and policies to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
NSR and Title V permit applications, including evaluating facility emissions, determining applicable Federal and State requirements, drafting permit conditions, and ensuring timely submittal and renewal of permits. Collaborate with internal teams and regulatory agencies to address technical issues and support public participation processes. Identify permitting strategy to support project timeline and construction schedule.
Serve as a technical resource for air permitting and other assigned air programs, ensuring programs are in conformance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Participate on a cross-functional Area Team to support day-to-day operation of the refinery in compliance with applicable requirements and site performance goals.
Lead and participate in audits and incident investigations, developing and implementing corrective actions as required.
Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and provide required verbal and written reports.
Develop and maintain environmental programs, procedures, and management systems. Inform employees of related policies and procedures and conduct appropriate training sessions.
Provide on-call support to a 24/7 operating facility.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a HES related field with 5 years relevant environmental experience is required.

A valid driver's license is required.
Environmental experience in the petrochemical industry is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in Texas environmental regulations, New Source Review permitting, Title V Permitting, and air compliance programs within the petroleum industry is preferred.
