**43947BR** **Requisition ID:** 43947BR **Business Unit:** TSU **Job Description:** We are currently seeking an Air Quality Scientist to support a wide variety of environmental projects with a focus in aviation clients. The preferred candidate will have extensive office experience working as a project manager or task manager leading complex air dispersion modeling and emission inventories, preparing planning documents, and preparing reports for environmental characterization and air quality projects. The preferred candidate will have a desire to advance their career as task leader or project manager. As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: • Performing air quality impact evaluations for incorporation into Environmental Impact Reports (CEQA), Environmental Impact Statements (NEPA), general conformity determinations, and similar environmental review projects for other states. • Preparing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission inventories and supporting documentation for Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) applications • Preparing project-level air emissions inventories of GHGs, as well as criteria and hazardous air pollutants for airports and other transportation clients with an ability to adapt to other market sectors. • Conducting air dispersion modeling and risk assessments • Conducting regulatory reviews and compliance/strategy evaluations • Acting as a project manager or project technical leader for highly specialized and complex air quality analyses • Leading business development efforts, including preparing proposals and identifying new project leads. • Actively participating in conferences, working groups, and related with a focus on building growth in the aviation sector. **Job Title:** Environmental Scientist 5 **Group:** ESO **Employment Type:** Regular **Minimum Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree in Science or related discipline with professional scientist registration/certification OR Master's degree in Science or related discipline. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. **Preferred Qualifications:** • Seven to eight years of air quality related experience is a plus. Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) expected. • Knowledge of chemistry and environmental regulations (especially pertaining to air quality and greenhouse gas) • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment • Experience using various dispersion and emission inventory models (e.g., AEDT, MOVES, and ACERT) and dispersion models (e.g., AERSCREEN, AERMOD, CALPUFF) • Experience completing noise impact analyses for construction, airport, and/or traffic sources **EEO Statement:** We attract the best people in the industry, supporting their efforts to learn and grow.
