**Description**
**About the role**
We’re looking for a hands-on Environmental Scientist to join our Contaminated Land team, with a strong focus on field-based investigations and site work. Our team is passionate about improving community health and wellbeing through environmental site assessments and remediation projects.
In this role, you’ll be actively involved in planning and executing fieldwork, including soil, groundwater, and vapour sampling, hydrogeological investigations and contractor supervision. You’ll work closely with an experienced Project Director to deliver practical solutions to complex environmental challenges across a variety of sites – from industrial and Defence locations to greenfields and brownfield redevelopments.
This position is based in either our Melbourne CBD or Geelong office, with regular travel to project sites. We offer strong support for your professional development through mentoring, training, and opportunities to attend industry events and conferences.
**Day to day tasks would involve:**
+ Lead and coordinate fieldwork activities for contaminated land projects, including sampling, drilling supervision, remediation oversight, and contractor management.
+ Ensure safe, efficient site practices during fieldwork.
+ Data management and interpretation of data against regulations and the clients objectives
+ Assist with the preparation of technical reports, focused on presenting information in a clear and logical manner, supported by appropriate interpretation of technical data in accordance with relevant guidelines and legislation.
+ Provide mentoring and training to graduates throughout the delivery of your projects.
+ Scope, design, and cost field investigations for soil, groundwater, and vapour assessments.
+ Assist with the management of project budgets, timelines, and client communications with a focus on field execution.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Chemistry or related field.
+ 2 - 6 years’ experience in contaminated land assessment, with a strong background in field investigations.
+ Strong analytical, reporting and verbal communication skills.
+ A client service focus with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively in team environments.
+ Valid/ current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly to field sites.
