Role Overview:
Join our team as an Environmental Regulatory Coordinator and contribute to impactful sustainability initiatives in Tanzania. This role supports environmental compliance and regulatory engagement for a major energy infrastructure project, ensuring alignment with national regulations and international standards such as IFC Performance Standards.
Please note: This position is open to Tanzanian nationals only.
Key responsibilities:
Regulatory Analysis & Guidance: Interpret and apply Tanzanian environmental regulations and international standards to project activities. Environmental Studies: Support and coordinate environmental assessments (e.g., ESIAs, ESMPs, ESIA variations), ensuring timely delivery and compliance. Reporting & Documentation: Prepare reports for regulatory bodies (e.g., NEMC), review contractor documentation, and contribute to annual environmental performance reports. Audit & Field Work: Participate in quarterly environmental audits and third-party site visits; support stakeholder engagement in the field. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and government agencies to promote environmental awareness and compliance. Training & Awareness: Lead initiatives such as World Environment Day and develop internal training on environmental standards.Skills & Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian environmental legislation and international standards (e.g., IFC, IPIECA). Experience with environmental permitting, impact assessments, and compliance monitoring. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Attention to detail in documentation and reporting. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in oil & gas or extractive industries. Registered NEMC EIA Expert is highly desirable. Experience working in East African environmental contexts is a plus.The next step
