Environmental Planning Supervisor
Job Title: Environmental Planner
Job Description

This is a dual-role leadership position blending technical environmental planning with team management. You will lead a remote team of planners and scientists, guide CEQA/NEPA documentation, and help shape the future of the department through strategic growth and client engagement.

ResponsibilitiesLead team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to foster accountability, growth, and a positive team culture.Conduct performance reviews and provide QA/QC oversight.Oversee CEQA/NEPA deliverables including Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, and EIRs.Support ArcGIS mapping and data analysis, with training available.Conduct desktop and occasional field environmental reviews.Participate in scoping, budgeting, and proposal development.Collaborate with clients and agencies to deliver high-quality work.Travel occasionally to Southern California project sites for site walks and team support.Engage in strategic growth and business development to expand into new markets and agencies beyond utilities.Contribute to RFPs and proposal strategy, and support hiring and onboarding as the team grows.Essential SkillsStrong CEQA/EIR expertise (NEPA packaging experience a plus).Leadership and mentoring capabilities for remote teams.Ability to manage environmental documentation and client-facing tasks.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in a remote environment.Proven experience in project management, including scoping, budgeting, and RFPs.Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.Self-motivation and adaptability to a dynamic, growth-oriented team.Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Planning, or a related field.5–10 years of experience in environmental planning, with strong CEQA/EIR expertise.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience supporting RFPs, scoping, and budgeting for environmental projects.Familiarity with CEQA documentation including Initial Studies and Mitigated Negative Declarations.Proficiency in ArcGIS or willingness to learn with team support.Interest in contributing to business development and expanding the client base.Valid driver’s license and ability to perform light fieldwork in varied conditions.Work Environment

This is a fully remote position with no physical office; all collaboration and meetings are virtual. The work culture is highly collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented, with regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins fostering engagement. Currently, the team consists of 8 members, with plans to grow to about 15. Enjoy the freedom of a flexible role, with occasional travel to Southern California project sites. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
