Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Environmental Planner II to join our California Environmental Planning & Permitting Practice. In this role you will work with our environmental planning practitioners and technical subject matter experts to prepare environmental documents in support of a wide range of local, state, and federal projects, including projects in both the public and private sector.
This is a hybrid role and can be based out of AECOM’s San Diego, Orange, or Los Angeles offices.
The responsibilities of this role include:
Assist in developing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, such as Categorical Exemptions, Categorical Exclusions, Initial Studies, Environmental Assessments, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Findings of No Significant Impacts, Environment Impact Reports, and Environment Impact Statement.Support the preparation of other environmental documents such as technical reports, permit application packages, and mitigation and monitoring plans.Provide environmental support to a variety of California transportation projects, such as Caltrans, LA Metro, SANDAG, etc. Interpret and applies applicable government codes, ordinances and regulations.Assist clients and project manager(s) with the development of meeting and project materials as necessary (e.g., presentation boards, handouts, agendas and schedules)Support public meetings and assist in preparing meeting materials and compiling meeting results, including PowerPoint presentations, and other materials.Support marketing and proposal efforts.Attends an occasional evening and/or weekend meetings based on project needs.May serve as adjunct planning staff for public agency clients.About AECOM’s Environment Business Line

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Environmental Planning and Policies, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering).2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/ or education in an environmental planning role with NEPA and CEQA experience.Valid U.S Driver's license is required for this role.Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field.4+ years of relevant experience.Previous experience with local Southern California planning and resource agencies.Prior consulting experience.Familiarity with California Planning Law, CEQA, NEPA, federal regulatory and compliance guidelines.Familiarity with issues related to environmental planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning.Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Adobe Portable Document Format application programs.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and documents.Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, identifying what needs to be accomplished and completing tasks timely.Additional InformationDue to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.About AECOM
