Environmental Planner (CEQA/NEPA)
Location: Ontario, CaliforniaHybrid schedule: Monday–Wednesday in-office, Thursday–Friday remote
Overview:A dynamic and growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Planner to support the preparation of State and Federal environmental documents and ensure regulatory compliance across Southern California. This role offers strong career growth potential and the opportunity to work on high-profile public infrastructure projects including bridges, land use developments, and flood control initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:Prepare portions of CEQA and NEPA documents including IS/MNDs, EIRs, EAs, and EISs Conduct research on project compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Coordinate with public agencies to address comments and ensure alignment with CEQA/NEPA requirements Assist in land use planning and demographic analysis as it relates to environmental documentation Develop technical reports, mapping, tables, and interpret model data and graphics Support Project Managers on multiple projects with tight schedules and complex scopes Document meetings, develop scopes of work, and monitor project budgets and timelines Execute assignments independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standardsParticipate in client and internal meetings, contributing to project strategy and execution Demonstrate strong writing, organizational, and communication skillsUse MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) proficientlyQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in natural science, biology, botany, wildlife management, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience in environmental consulting or public environmental planning within Southern California Experience working with tribal, federal, state, and local agencies, especially in regulatory review and intergovernmental affairs Willingness to travel to project sites as needed Preferred Skills:Familiarity with cultural resource management, historic preservation, and AB52/SB18 compliance Experience with GPS/GIS tools (e.g., Trimble, ArcGIS), LiDAR scanning, and HABS/HAER documentation Ability to manage CEQA schedules, interface with clients, and mentor junior staff Air quality, GHG, and noise modeling experience is a plus Compensation:Salary Range: $82,000 – $94,000 annually [Benefits:401(k)Health insurancePaid vacation and holidaysProfessional development assistanceRetirement planHybrid work flexibilityWhy Join This Team?Work on impactful public infrastructure projects with a respected and competitive team.Opportunity to grow within a firm that values mentorship and internal promotion Collaborate with experienced professionals in a supportive and streamlined work environment.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $39.00 - $46.00/hr.
