Environmental Officer

Location

Reko Diq Mine Site – Balochistan

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

Experience

Minimum 3 years of professional experience in environmental management, preferably in mining, infrastructure, or construction sectors.

Requirements

Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements in Pakistan.

Experience in environmental monitoring and reporting (air, water, waste, noise, soil).

Familiarity with Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), environmental audits, and compliance inspections.

Knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment and basic GIS/mapping systems is an advantage.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Ability to work independently in remote and challenging field environments.

Responsibilities

Implement Barrick's Sustainability Policy & Procedures across project operations.

Ensure compliance with the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and other relevant environmental approvals, permits, and legislation.

Support environmental monitoring, including air quality, water quality, waste management, noise, and soil assessments.

Collect, analyze, and report environmental monitoring data in line with project and regulatory requirements.

Assist in the implementation of site-specific management plans.

Coordinate with construction teams to integrate environmental protection measures into daily operations.

Conduct site inspections and audits to identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.

Maintain environmental records, reports, and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.

Provide training and awareness sessions to construction teams on environmental protection, pollution prevention, and compliance requirements.

Support stakeholder engagement and liaise with regulators, consultants, and communities regarding environmental performance.

Prepare and contribute to environmental reports, progress updates, and compliance audits.

Assist in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and adaptive management practices in environmental performance.
