Job Description
The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures. The role involves identifying hazardous conditions and actions within the plant and recommending corrective measures. The specialist will investigate incidents and property losses, organize required safety training, and provide safety orientation to new employees.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures.Identify hazardous conditions and actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures.Investigate and prepare presentations for all incidents and property losses.Organize and oversee all required safety training, including fork truck, lockout, and new hire onboarding.Provide safety orientation to new employees.Conduct Management of Change on new equipment.Provide Supervisors and Group leaders with safety training information for weekly and monthly safety meetings.Track training to ensure compliance with Corporate Regulatory Task Schedule.Identify gaps in training curriculum by analyzing injury and illness data.Manage the contractor safety program and ensure compliance.Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, EPA, DOT, etc.Manage all federal, state, and local environmental permits and ensure compliance.Assist in purchasing appropriate personal protective equipment.Prepare monthly incident summary reports.Supervise maintenance of the 300 log.Supervise safety teams.Support site as a safety mentor for visitors.File and maintain SDS sheets.Assist with the administration of the workers' compensation program.Recommend and budget for safety capital expenditure items and annual safety budget.Manage all property/casualty insurance claims.Perform any other duties established by the Regional EHS Director.Essential SkillsKnowledge in safety, EHS, OSHA, health & safety, compliance, and environmental health.Experience in safety training, safety programs, and safety procedures.Proficiency in reporting and regulatory compliance.Skills in risk assessment, permitting, scheduling, and documentation.Experience with workers' compensation, risk assessment, risk, and compliance.Additional Skills & QualificationsDegree in Industrial Safety Management preferred.Excellent written and oral communication skills.1 - 3 years of safety experience in an industrial setting.Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.Extensive knowledge of EPA and other government regulations.Work Environment
The role is based in an enclosed office space with daily exposure to manufacturing and warehouse environments. The candidate must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment. The work schedule is from 6 AM to 3 PM in a 24-hour facility. Occasionally, early management meetings at 4 AM may need to be accommodated due to global operations. The team operates in a close-knit manner, providing support and communication across departments to ensure seamless operations.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
