Environmental Attendant
Assist customers in properly segregating recyclable and non-recyclable waste according to county recycling guidelines and environmental regulations. Answer customer questions about local recycling programs, collection schedules, and waste disposal procedures. Provide excellent customer service by offering clear information and friendly assistance. Perform occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) to help customers move or transfer waste into appropriate bins or collection areas. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized recycling station or facility. 4 days per week, approximately 36 hours per week Tues 10:45AM-7PM, Thur 7:45AM-4:30PM, Fri 7:45AM-4:30PM, Sat 7:45AM-2PM  Washington County Enviornmental Center- on site 

Clean Harbors in is seeking an Environmental Attendant to support the Disposal business.

Attendant will greet and direct customers and vehicles to unloading area. May set-up cones for traffic,participates in counting participants and document data, as required. Distribute flyers and collect survey data. Greets, directs customer and vehicles to unloading area and with set-up/takedown and general housekeeping. May distribute flyers for customer, count number of HHW Participants and completes surveys as needed

Responsibilities

Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner Proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance Ensure work area maintained in a neat and orderly manner Participate in spill response on customer’s site as needed Attend all compliance and safety update meetings Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance Operate forklift in a safe manner Safe loading and unloading of waste hauling vehicles Conduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessary Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules. Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures. Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Valid Driver’s license Attention to detail, able to take and follow direction, and to perform multiple tasks Ability to interface with customers Perform physical functions per job requirements  Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position   Clean Harbors facilitates thousands of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and pesticide collection programs throughout North America, collecting paints, solvents, batteries, fluorescent lamps, pesticides, cleaners and other hazardous materials.
