Environmental and sustainable development specialist

Job Description

Location: Available throughout Quebec

 

Overview

We are looking for a passionate sustainability specialist to support infrastructure projects in integrating responsible practices and achieving environmental certifications, including Envision. As a key member of the Climate Resilience and Sustainability team, you will play a strategic role in planning, coordinating, and implementing sustainable solutions tailored to engineering and construction projects.

 

Your Role

Support infrastructure projects in integrating sustainability strategies and obtaining environmental certifications (Envision, LEED);

Develop and implement sustainability plans aligned with project objectives;

Identify improvement opportunities and recommend context‑appropriate strategies to project teams;

Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure compliance with sustainability criteria;

Prepare and coordinate the technical documentation required for certifications;

Monitor compliance with Envision and LEED credits throughout the project lifecycle;

Review project documents and ensure their alignment with certification requirements;

Conduct gap analyses and recommend solutions to improve project performance;

Organize and structure the Envision certification package;

Contribute to updating Envision assessments (achieved and targeted levels);

Participate in reporting and tracking sustainability objectives with project teams;

Contribute to environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), including drafting technical sections, analyzing environmental and social issues, and proposing mitigation measures;

Participate in stakeholder analysis, planning, and implementation of engagement strategies;

Support the integration of environmental and social considerations into project decision‑making processes.

 

About You

 

University degree in environment, sustainability, engineering, architecture, or a related field;

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in construction projects or environmental certification;

PMP (Project Management Professional) designation, or the ability to obtain the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) within six months, is a condition of employment if you are not currently registered as a PMP;

Strong project management and interdisciplinary coordination skills;

Ability to simplify complex data and provide clear, actionable recommendations;

Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse stakeholders;

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.

 

Considered an asset:

Good knowledge of Envision application and its implications for projects;

Bilingualism.

 

Additional Assets:

Experience in environmental assessment and environmental management on construction sites;

Knowledge of technical sustainability topics (stakeholder management, communication, environmental management, environmental assessment, socio‑economic analysis, biodiversity, urban integration, resource management, waste management, stormwater management, embodied carbon, energy efficiency, etc.);

ENV‑SP (Envision Sustainability Professional) designation;

Proficiency with Envision certification tools and processes;

LEED accreditation.
