Role Overview:
Join our team as an Environmental Advisor and play a pivotal role in promoting environmental compliance and sustainability during pipeline construction activities. This field-based position requires strong coordination with contractors and daily inspections to ensure alignment with environmental standards and best practices.
Key responsibilities: Conduct environmental inspections to ensure good practices are implemented during pre-construction and construction phases. Monitor contractor activities to verify compliance with environmental commitments, permit conditions, and mitigation measures. Liaise with site representatives and construction teams to provide guidance on compliance requirements and corrective actions. Follow up on non-compliance issues and support resolution. Report daily to the construction supervisor, highlighting concerns, incidents, and non-conformances. Maintain detailed inspection reports with photographic documentation. Participate in internal environmental audits and support close-out of corrective actions. Assist in reviewing and closing rectifications from inspections, audits, or compliance reviews. Support contractors in understanding and implementing environmental control plans. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science or related field. Minimum 10 years of environmental experience in the construction industry, preferably in pipeline-related projects. Strong knowledge of international ESIAs, IFC environmental and social performance standards, and experience in Uganda and/or Tanzania. Familiarity with environmental controls in pipeline construction, including wetland crossings and topsoil conservation. Experience with compliance enforcement, site inspections, and non-conformance reporting. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written). Physically fit for fieldwork in challenging terrain and weather conditions. Strong report writing skills (daily, weekly, and monthly summaries). The next step
