**100911BR** **Job Title:** Environment Health Safety Manager - Des Moines, IA **Department/Function:** Health, Safety & Environment **Job Description:** **Environment Health Safety Manager - Des Moines, IA** **Job Summary** The EHS Manager will provide strategic leadership, direction and guidance regarding EH&S standards, systems and permits within a plant setting. This position is responsible for collaboration with a diverse group plant personnel, oversight of the EH&S performance in the facility and continuous improvement. Collaborate with locations teams to meet legal and ADM expectations. **Work Duties and Required Skills** + Manage location safety and health activities (training, inspections, and audits, as well as internal and external reporting) + Conducts internal inspections and audits and assists in coordinating external inspections and audits + Analyzes, reviews, and reports location trends (audits, injuries, incidents, etc.) and monitors safety performance + Advises management of safety and health issues, provides location managers with guidance and assistance + Participates on location safety and health committee as a technical consultant / advisor. + Provides technical support (if and when required) + Develops material and assist in training + Assists in the orientation and training of new colleagues + Assists with incident investigation + Stays up-to-date with regulatory developments, best practices + Develops and maintains positive relationships with key contacts + Support, promote and review the completion of safety information requirements to be entered in company safety database. (Incidents and near misses investigation, audits, inspections, corrective actions tracking process and etc.) + Support plant leadership in preventing all work related injuries and illnesses as well as environmental harm + consultant for plant managers, superintendents and all leaders + Support plant leadership in establishing a safe & environmental friendly work environment + Definition of site regulation and communication to all site member + Ensure compliance via auditing that Site, Company and local regulations + Offer solutions and support action implementation regarding the work environment + Responsible for the fulfillment of the tasks assigned to him/her + Responsible for his/her professional advice + Authority to have equipment shut down if safety, health, or the environment are endangered + Assist the Operations/Location Managers during an emergency situation in coordination/direct communication with plant management, staff positions, or their representatives + Facilitate/lead risk assessment team meetings + Models the core values with regard to safety; integrity, respect, excellence, resourcefulness, teamwork and responsibility + Liaison to Regional Safety Team + Other duties as assigned by manager **Minimum Requirements** + BS/BA Health and Safety or related field + 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in a Production/Manufacturing Environment + Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal and state regulations. + Demonstrated ability to independently manage EHS programs without direct supervision or team management responsibilities. + Ability to conduct physical inspections in an industrial plant environment and manage emergency situations. + Experience or an understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering processes & procedures + Knowledge of combustible dust hazards and Hazard Area Classification + Experience with Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Permit to Work Systems + A recognized Environmental qualification is preferred + EHS Compliance and auditing experience + Understanding of root cause analysis + Prior experience leading / supervising people, preferred. + Demonstrated self-starter and able to self-monitor with minimal oversight. + Results driven to provide support to achieve the goals established by leadership. + The ability to provide motivation to the direct reports and demonstrate leadership qualities to all personnel. + Demonstrated decision-making ability and problem-solving skills + Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks + Computer skills and capability with Microsoft Products + Applicant must be able to work in all types of climates both inside and out including extreme hot and cold temperatures, noisy environments, heights, dusty environments, all of which require use of Personal Protective Equipment. + Ability to climb stairs, access ladders, catwalks and elevated working platforms across all hours of shift working time. Job also requires some lifting, sit and stand for long periods of time, work with heights, bending, kneeling and respirator qualified. Relocation Assistance is available with this position.
