Enterprise Data Architect-Level 1

Labcorp is seeking an Enterprise Data Architect-Level 1 to join our Labcorp team in Durham, North Carolina.

Work Schedule: This is a full‑time, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in your local time zone. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

Job Responsibilities

Develop hands-on experience with logical and physical design models through participation in application development projects to capture detail level attributes, terms and definitions, data classifications, and data retention:Understand application design and development requirements and build a logical model Add the entities and attributes to the Logical modelApply pre-defined Standards Macro to the Logical design Compare and Merge changes to the Physical modelApply predefined database standards to the Physical modelCompare and Merge to the database to generate DDL Diagnose errors with help from DBA or other team members as needed, review with development team and; adjust model as neededOnce model structure is approved, deploy changes into the DevOps pipeline Perform Data Profiling assessments and organize presentations with Tableau or PowerBI to convey awareness of data issues to data stewards and business Adapt and learn newer techniques and methodologies to develop knowledge and expand core Data Architecture Services; data inventory, data lineage, data classification/categorization, business glossary development, and metadata management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science or engineering 0-2 years’ work experience in a professional corporate environmentPrevious and/or active Labcorp Internship required

Preferred Qualifications:

3 months experience with data modeling tools, preferably ER/Studio to visualize metadata and database schema3 months experience with multiple relational database platforms such as: Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Postgres3 months experience SQL skills to explore and analyze business data 3 Months experience in data visualization tools, such as Tableau and/or Power BI, to analyze data and identify business insights 3 Months experience using Excel, SQL, or other query languages

Core mission of Data Architecture is to enhance the value of data by improving quality, consumability and security.

This role participates in Labcorp’s enterprise data modeling through management of logical and physical database structures, applying domains, naming & data type standards, capturing of business definitions, applying bindings (HIPPA, GDPR, PHI, PCI, Privacy), and adding indexes/view, etc.  Additionally, Data Architect also performs data profiling to identify data quality issues, design data archival processes and build DevOps pipelines for deploying database structures (Liquibase).
