The German International School of Silicon Valley (GISSV) is a private school from Preschool through 12th Grade with a bilingual German-English educational program. Upon graduation, our students earn a German International Abitur and take part in all qualifications and exams needed for an American High School Diploma. We serve children of all nationalities in the San Francisco Bay Area and are accredited by the German Government and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) as well as the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).

Job Summary Job Summary

For the school year 2025/26 and with a start date of August 1, 2025, we are looking for a committed English Teacher (Grades 5-12; full-time) We are looking for candidates who will use their pedagogical, communicative, and organizational skills to support the work of the school's leadership team. The teacher is responsible for the overall coordination of teaching his/her subject including executing well-developed lesson plans, accurate assessment of student’s progress, participation in department and staff meetings and team planning sessions, supervision of students, willingness to learn new methodology. Qualification and experience: • A pedagogical degree, completed in the US or in Europe (CA teaching credentials or European certificate for teaching) • Master’s degree preferred • 3+ years of professional experience in secondary school, preferably in bilingual education • Excellent English written and oral skills required; • AP experience a plus • Experience and competence in advising, communicating and working effectively with parents • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer Expertise and personal strengths: • Ability to work collaboratively in a team • Willingness to receive feedback, engage in frequent dialogue and ability to self-reflect • Open-mindedness, organizational skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching • Ability to create and sustain a positive and highly engaged learning environment • Enthusiasm for developing new pedagogical concepts • Intercultural sensibility and empathy FLSA Classification: Exempt Schedule: Full-time Salary: $85,000-$122,000 depending on experience Please direct your completed application, including a cover letter, resume, diplomas, reference letters, transcripts, etc. to Désirée Appadurai, HR at jobs@gissv.org
