Job Description

We are seeking an Operating Technician to join our team in Warner Robins near Macon, specifically at the Robbins Air Force Base. This role is perfect for those looking to advance their career in the environmental consulting field. Your main focus will be the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and reporting for the Robbins Air Force Base groundwater pump and treatment remedial system (GWTP). The position involves both independent and team-oriented fieldwork, with some office tasks, offering a dynamic and engaging work experience.

ResponsibilitiesOperate, maintain, and monitor two granular activated groundwater treatment systems and manual pump operations.Perform periodic maintenance tasks including changing bag filters and repairing system instrumentation.Conduct environmental and permit sampling, as well as site hydraulic and environmental sampling using various methods.Assist with compliance reporting, budget reviews, and system improvements.Collect field parameters and environmental samples for laboratory analysis of soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and air.Oversee contractor activities to ensure compliance with project documents and provide CQA observation on construction sites.Perform field and on-site laboratory tests for construction and environmental projects.Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation and reports.Ensure adherence to health and safety plans and company policies.Essential SkillsProficiency in sample collection and analysis in outdoor fieldwork settings.Experience or interest in environmental careers.Experience with operations and maintenance, including stormwater sampling.Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong motivation and work ethic.Experience interpreting process and instrumentation control drawings and related documents.Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects and engage in physical activities such as climbing and stooping.Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable transportation for business travel.Additional Skills & QualificationsA high school diploma is required.Minimum of two years of applicable experience preferred.OSHA 40-hour health and safety (OSHA HAZWOPER) training required.RCRA and DOT hazardous waste training preferred.Experience with in-field monitoring and data collection equipment.Experience with multi-media sampling of soil, water, and air preferred.Work Environment

The position is based at the groundwater treatment plant on the Robbins Air Force Base. The office space is not temperature-controlled, and the role involves day-to-day responsibilities for multiple remediation systems. The work requires regular fieldwork, including random sampling tests and compliance sampling for stormwater. The technician may also handle various fieldwork tasks, such as installing wells and assisting engineering teams. Interaction with clients is part of the role, and transportation can be managed through mileage expenses or company vehicles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
