Engineering Technician 2 (Distribution)
Job Title: Distribution Engineering Technician II

Job Description

The Distribution Engineering Technician, is responsible for designing electric and communication system facilities to meet the needs of customers. This role involves designing work to serve new customers and enhance existing infrastructure.

ResponsibilitiesInterface with customers via site visits, phone, and email.Collect customer data to estimate electric usage and revenue, fault current for equipment, electric account deposit, and construction growth credit.Create sales orders, obtain customer approval/signature, and track cost and revenue estimates as per service policies.Initiate work orders for the construction department by performing cost estimates and job sketches.Update the Customer Information System with relevant data for electric accounts.Manage time and schedule to maximize customer service and productivity.Participate during system emergencies such as storm restoration by scouting incidents, providing field information, and assisting with oversight of contractor field crews.Essential SkillsProficiency in designing and modifying electrical facilities, both overhead and underground.Ability to follow applicable codes, standards, methods, policies, and customer needs in the design process.Basic understanding of electrical distribution design.Proficiency in using standard business software such as Microsoft Office.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.Proficiency in GIS, CAD, and specific packages such as Enquesta, GTECH, and GTViewer is preferred.Knowledge of entry-level technical applications is preferred.Work Environment

The work environment typically represents a standard office setting located in Chattanooga, TN or Atlanta, GA, with occasional work outside in various terrains and weather conditions. Regular activities include sitting, talking, hearing, and vision use, while frequent activities involve walking to lines and standing. Occasionally, activities may involve pulling/pushing, climbing/balancing, reaching with arms and hands, and stooping/kneeling/crouching

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $66560.00/yr.
