Join our Thermo King’s Truck Engineering team as an Engineering Technical Lead! In this position, you will provide project engineering support for a diverse mixture of product development projects (new product development, quality, productivity and sustaining) and apply strong Engineering principles, technical rigor, and system-level thinking to create solutions that meet demanding customer applications. Your work will ensure our products deliver on key expectations for performance, safety, quality, delivery, and cost- directly influencing the next generation of sustainable transport refrigeration technologies.

Where is the work:

From Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues in Minneapolis, MN. On Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

 

What you will do:

Work across multiple engineering programs to provide deep hands‑on technical contributions.

Develop DFMEAs & Design Verification Plans (DVP), execute test plans, and analyze and summarize test results.

Generate, evaluate, and analyze design concepts for mechanical, electrical, and controls subsystems, collaborating closely with other engineers.

Develop and lead project plans, prioritize engineering activities, and define clear technical requirements in collaboration with product development teams and key suppliers.

Provide input into technical resource planning based on project engineering needs.

Present technical recommendations and design materials in formal engineering design reviews and project gate reviews.

Contribute to system and architecture design decisions by performing analyses and evaluating technical tradeoffs.

Execute and support subsystem integration, verification, and validation activities.

Coordinate with Engineering support groups to develop technical management plans, including mitigation strategies for identified technical risks.

Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—Test Lab, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Finance, Quality, Procurement, Service—and cross‑business unit Engineering and Manufacturing partners, as well as key suppliers, to achieve project deliverables.

Ensure engineering designs, drawings, Bills of Materials, test plans/reports, and project documentation are complete, accurate, and up to standard.

Provide day‑to‑day support for truck applications, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing, assisting dealers, customers, plant teams, and Product Management with application‑related questions.

Travel domestically and internationally up to 20%, as required.

 

What you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years of experience in engineering or product development. Master’s degree in engineering is a plus.

Solid understanding and practical application of Systems Engineering principles, including system architecture, interface management, and technical tradeoff evaluation.

Knowledge of refrigeration technologies, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics (preferred).

Familiarity with Pro/Engineer or Creo and Windchill PLM is an advantage.

Ability to lead without formal authority—guiding technical teams, facilitating engineering decisions, and mentoring others when needed.

Demonstrated capability in system‑level problem solving, root‑cause analysis, and risk identification/mitigation.

 

Compensation: 

Annual Pay Range: $100,00 -138,000
