EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in manufacturing / engineering related discipline or experience as follows: 3-5 years’ experience as an engineering technician in a related manufacturing environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/EQUIPMENT USED: Interfacing with equipment, entering/retrieving data, and using computer. Some heavy lifting. Operating lab and testing equipment.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal). Good organizational management skills (ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks). Computer literacy with an in-depth knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Power Point. Initiative to pursue issues and opportunities. Dedication to completion of all actions. Detail oriented with keen observation skills. Desire to learn necessary job skills.
JOB SUMMARY:Perform technical duties related to Product Engineering functions and process management including support of engineering projects and yield improvement initiatives as they relate to the manufacture of ceramic cores for the aerospace industry. Works under the direction of Product Engineers with direct accountability to NPI Engineering Leader.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform daily review of product or process related scrap utilizing the data to prepare reports and develop a plan to address identified yield issues. Perform engineering trials under the guidance of an individual engineer or engineering team. Assist Product Engineering with root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions related to quality, cost, delivery, and product integrity. Work with dimensional on issues related to core dimensions, PM301s, studies, etc. Work with layout on gauge or cores gauging issues. Work with C3D on core and tooling related issues. Assure product compliance to customer requirements. Assist manufacturing and quality on engineering or technical issues that arise. Compile and analyze product data using statistical process control methods and generate associated engineering reports. Support engineering with developing and maintaining activity instructions and product or process specifications / criteria. Able to assemble/disassemble auxiliary tooling (press setters and various fixtures). Work with Tool Room, maintenance, dimensional, layout and other departments as necessary on core or tooling issues Create or assist in the creation of engineering presentations reporting on yield status, define scrap initiatives, and provide a status of yield improvement plan. Support EHS improvement initiatives as required relating to tooling, fixturing, and in some cases equipment and equipment operation. Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner. Maintain high attendance record. Perform other work-related duties as necessary.
