You'll Have…
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Education, or related field.
3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, training development, or industrial engineering.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, certifications, and operator skill development.
Even Better, You'll have…
Experience with Ford Production System (FPS) standards and Lean Manufacturing practices.
Background in curriculum development or adult learning.
Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.

What You'll Do…
The Engineering Specialist - Manufacturing Workforce Development will be responsible for developing and managing the functional and technical training and certification processes for manufacturing operations. This role partners closely with Learning & Development (L&D) and operational leadership to define training needs, establish standardized processes, and support internal career progression through structured certification and promotion pathways. The Specialist plays a key role in creating a sustainable, skill-based workforce by building Subject Matter Expertise (SME) at the hourly level and reducing reliance on salaried support.
Training and Certification Strategy
Partner with Learning & Development (L&D) to define and deploy the functional and technical training/certification framework.
Establish comprehensive training plans aligned to job-specific operational requirements and business goals.
Define operation-related job training requirements, content, and qualifications/certifications.
Training Execution and Assessment
Coordinate and organize daily training delivery and certification tracking for hourly personnel.
Assist engineers in delivering and completing technical training modules.
Oversee operator certification assessments, ensuring completion and competency development.
Facilitate the internal promotion process by assessing operator readiness and supporting progression decisions.
Capability Building and Sustainability
Design and implement Train-the-Trainer programs to build Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) at the hourly level.
Collaboration and Support
Link identified training needs to the plant training coordinator to ensure alignment and integration into training plans.
Provide data and support for business management, workforce development tracking, and KPI alignment.
