**Job Summary**
The Hotel Engineering Project Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all capital and operating projects within the Engineering division. This role oversees the entire project lifecycle, including bid processes, coordination, contractor management, and billing, ensuring successful execution of assigned projects. The position requires strong leadership in managing consultants, vendors, suppliers, and contractors while maintaining strict adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The Project Manager ensures compliance with local permitting procedures, safety regulations, and building codes, while minimising disruptions to guest experience. Additionally, the role supports property standards, life safety systems, and promotes exceptional customer service by fostering a positive guest environment and driving continuous improvement.
**Candidate Profile**
_Education and Experience_
• High school diploma or GED; 3 years experience in project management, engineering, maintenance, or related professional area.
AND/OR
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; 4 years experience in engineering and maintenance, project management, or related professional area.
**Core Work Activities**
Managing Engineering Projects and Budgets
• Oversees implementation and execution of approved capital and operating projects, including development of project specifications, part/product sourcing, labor planning, and management of bidding services.
• Develops requisitions and presentations for capital projects.
• Assists in developing annual capital/operating budgets and planning project requests.
• Identifies, qualifies, and negotiates general contracts for capital, operating, and special event projects.
• Manages ongoing and daily performance of consultants, vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
• Develops and manages project timelines to ensure goals are achieved and minimize guest experience impact.
• Verifies contractors and vendors adhere to local permitting procedures.
• Manages project-related permits and inspection requests.
• Specifies or creates configuration management methods for projects.
• Performs routine project inspections to verify quality control, compliance with building codes, and adherence to specifications.
• Prepares project progress reports detailing timelines, delays, and cost adherence.
• Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, MSDS requirements, and safety precautions.
• Compiles and presents updates to owners and senior leaders on all capex projects.
• Partners with finance team regarding payments, cashflow and capex management process.
Maintaining Property Standards
• Verifies building and equipment licenses and certifications are current.
• Ensures property life safety systems are maintained (firefighting equipment, sprinkler systems, alarm systems).
Promoting Exceptional Customer Service
• Displays leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
• Reviews comment cards, guest satisfaction results, and other data to identify improvement areas.
• Shares plans with property leadership and ensures corrective actions are taken to continuously improve guest satisfaction.
• Strives to improve service performance.
