Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

Responsible for the delivery and oversight of Nuclear Facilities Engineering activities in support of the Core Production operational facilities, ensuring that all designs and modifications are carried out in accordance with RRSL processes and in line with RRSL’s management arrangements for compliance with the relevant Nuclear Site License Conditions and Environmental Permits.

Act as the prime Engineering interface, decision-maker and thought leader across all projects and work packages within their remitOversee and agree any modifications to existing facilities and their associated design and safety baselinesEnsuring the design and substantiation baseline for the operational facilities is adequate and that the suite of design and safety documentation is an acceptable record of the design and the underpinning design rationale and decisions made.Accept or reject designs and modifications on behalf of the Nuclear Facilities Design Authority (DA) in consultation with the wider DA organisation.Maintain configuration control of the design and safety baseline of existing facilities, including all the drawings, specifications, manuals, design standards, engineering calculations, supporting data and theoretical bases which constitute the design definition.Act as the Design Authority Intelligent Customer (DAIC) for technical activities undertaken in the supply chain, including assurance of supply chain capabilities (up to and including supplier approval activities).

Who we are looking for:

Qualified to at least degree level.Understanding of RRMS processes and willingness to quickly understand how these are applied in a unique Nuclear Facilities Engineering environment.Experience in undertaking or being involved in key engineering governance and/or assurance processes, eg Gated Reviews, Engineering Change, Procedure Authorisation Groups etcExperience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules.Experience of making complex technical decisions in a high pressure environment where safety is paramount and programme need is challenging.Experience in leading an Engineering team with a background in nuclear facility design or operation preferred.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place.  Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
