We are seeking a skilled and Engineering Manager with strong experience managing

engineers, legacy and modern tech from Java to TypeScript, and ideally E-commerce platforms.

You will be responsible for the technical feasibility, design, estimation, building, testing, and

operational stability of squad solutions. You’ll provide end-to-end visibility across various

technical domains and facilitate collaboration among technical SMEs. Oversee daily operations,

ensuring the team maintains a sustainable and predictable sprint velocity, removing technical

blockers, providing solution and architectural guidance. Ensuring that code reviews and

standards accelerate rather than hinder delivery. Working with the wider Domain and CoStar

tech community you will create and maintain a framework of technical standards and delivery

procedures; guides troubleshooting to minimize downtime and project delays. Accountable for

system health, code security remediation and the Tech Debt backlog, ensuring that "keeping the

lights on" is balanced with new feature delivery.

Work closely with the Product Manager and Product Designer to establish technical

requirements and lead the technical direction of the work. The role involves setting (and

continuously improving) technical standards and relevant patterns for software delivery whilst

delivering product roadmap and drive value using technology.

Ensures smooth running of the delivery team, focused on quality and delivery excellence.

Provides leadership to developers on principles and practices, ensures consistency in approach.

Leads by example in building quality in, aligned with product vision and value.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Product and Design on team roadmap and priorities Execute and deliver on the roadmap in collaboration with Product and DesignDirect line management for all the engineers in the squad. Drive work and epic breakdown for effective estimation, capacity planning and delivery Manage and unblock technical dependencies with other teams where requiredChampion and adopt Architectural and Engineering best practices Accountable to the System Health, Secure coding and Tech debt backlog Improve engineering efficiency for the squadsAccountable to reporting on delivery metrics for their squadMentor and coach software engineers in progressive engineering practices Participate in and contribute to cross domain technology forums Collaborate with Principal Engineers and Architects to drive Solution Design for large initiatives Be an ambassador for the Engineering brand internally and externally Elevate and escalate to tech leaders where large investment in tech debt and tech initiatives is required Build a deep understanding of their product and business domain Hands-on where necessary with a focus on initiatives that will help 10x the teamPerforms code reviews where necessary Facilitate team ceremonies where necessary

Experience and Qualifications:

Must have relevant information and  technology related tertiary qualificationExperience designing software solutions for scale Experience with either high traffic customer facing websites and/or complex mobile apps Experience optimising engineering practices and processes Evidence of data informed decision making Experience working with modern AWS servicesExperience implementing DevOps best practices and CI/CDExperience working in Agile environments Experience mentoring more engineersExperience leading a team of engineers Deep expertise in at least one programming language and tech stack Understands shift-left testing and how to implement it in practice Familiar with Functional and Object Oriented programming Familiar with Document and Relational data persistence models Familiar with Cloud Design patterns Familiar with TDD, BDD and Domain Driven design Familiar with synchronous (API) and async (Messaging) integration patterns Familiar with modern Application Security Practices (OWASP)

Preferred Skills:

Full stack experience with React and/or TypeScript,  Node.js, Next.js, JavaExperience with Microservices architecture, relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases, and Cloud Design patterns.Experience working with common Cloud Platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD.Applied Domain Driven Design, TDD and/or BDD  at previous companiesExperience with large scale platform modernisation and transformation projectsAWS (or other Cloud Platform) Certification Working in ISO27001 and/or PCI-DSS environment
